WHO AM I?

I am a driven and enthusiastic young educator with extensive informal teaching experience. I utilize research based practices, such as experience-based learning and developmentally appropriate lesson plans, to engage students while meeting learning targets.

I hold a M.Ed. from University of Washington, through which I completed my teaching residency through IslandWood's Education for Environment and Community, in the School Overnight Program.  Additionally, I hold a B.S. in psychology from Santa Clara University, with minors in education and Spanish.

MY PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

STRIVING FOR EQUITABLE ENGAGEMENT OF ALL STUDENTS THROUGH CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE PRACTICES, GENUINE RAPPORT BUILDING, AND SCAFFOLDING BASED ON INDIVIDUAL NEEDS..
My philosophy of education is made up of inherently intertwined
concepts and practices, centering around both my students, as well as myself as both and educator and a learner.

My philosophy centers around student engagement, by fostering motivation through student choice.
I craft my lessons to be not only student centered, but also student driven. I emphasize rapport building practices to build genuine relationships with my students. My educational philosophy is heavily informed by culturally responsive pedagogy.

Potentially the most important aspect of my philosophy is intentional self-reflection
and examination of my own teaching strategies, internal biases, and challenges. Through which, I aim
to continue to refine my own educational practices to better support the needs of all my students.
